/ THE BRIEF
Wharfside Residences was a new development that gives grandstand seats to Sydney’s most vibrant, scenic and diverse coastal destination ie. Manly.
The development company wanted to attract families to this particular apartment in the building. They wanted me to style the property for sale and address the following: flow, furniture, accessories, finishes that go with the current style, focal points, appeal to their target market and to use classic, timeless pieces with hints of colour and pattern.
/ THE CONCEPT
I lived in Manly for around 8 years. I absolutely loved it there. You’re surrounded by some of the best restaurants and cafés, multiple beaches, beautiful homes, and there is always a good vibe.
One of my favourite times of the day in Manly is twilight. It’s quieter, the day has finished and the night is about to begin Twilight is that time of day when there is a soft glowing light from the sky and the sun is below the horizon. The suns light hits the water and makes it look metallic.
From this memory I wanted to apply this concept. I used the gorgeous colours twilight creates in the sky, including the pinks, blues, greys and metallic colours that the ocean changes to. This concept also worked well with this sleek new development.
The apartment needed to be warmed and softened in order to attract the family market. My style is always to make things feel comfortable. It needed some soft fabrics and texture added, paired with some wood and warmer task lighting and beautiful accessories.
